Obituary

Rodolfo "Rudy" M. Salinas, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was born in Nordheim, Texas to parents, Genoveva Moya and Desidoro "Lolo" Salinas. Born the "baby" of four boys, he was always a jokester and a kid at heart, bringing his signature humor to every family gathering. Whether it was with a funny face, sharing a personal story or teasing his grandkids, Rudy was always sure to get a laugh.

Rudy and his mom, Genoveva, shared a special connection through BINGO, their favorite pastime. They could easily play 18 cards at a time. And you could find them at a local bingo hall every Wednesday and Saturday and even traveling to Oklahoma for the big payouts. This extraordinary mother-son connection extended beyond bingo to their shared love of Country music. Their favorite singer was George Strait. And Rudy would often fondly recall seeing a young George Strait at Comanche Park in the early 80s.

Family was the compass that guided Rudy throughout life's journey. He was the first to reach out with a phone call or visit and stay connected to immediate and extended family all across Texas - from San Antonio to Dallas, Waco to Yorktown and everywhere in between. He will be forever remembered for the unconditional love he always had for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gilbert Salinas; and grandson, Miguel Angel Gonzales.

Rudy is survived by his daughters, Laura Adcock, Laura Salinas (Raymond Garza), Brenda Salinas-Tobar (Victor Tobar, Jr.), and Carla Salinas Harris (James Harris); grandchildren, Karissa, Cienna, Sophia, Deziree, Jolie, Seren, Samuel, Isla; great grandchildren, Abby, Gregory, Nicolas; brothers, Santiago "Jim" Salinas (Hortencia), Ruben Salinas (Mary Lou); sisters, Sandra Salinas, Diana Banda; as well as numerous extended family.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
