Obituary

Rudy R. Palacios, 74, passed away on July 8, 2020. Rudy was born in San Antonio, TX to Julian and Maria Palacios on September 26, 1945. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Andrew Villarreal, Minerva P. Berlanga, Richard Palacios; Sister-in-Law, Isbael Palacios; Brother-in-Law, Rudy Tijerina.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Josie C. Palacios and his son, Rudy R. Palacios, Jr. His grandchildren; Nathan A. Palacios (Kaitlyn Kincade), Trystin Galvan, and great-grandaughter, Evangeline Nataleigh Palacios. Siblings; Eloy Palacios, Arturo Rodriquez (and his wife Margie Rodriquez), Elisa P. Tijerina; Sister-in-Law, Maria Elena Palacios.
Rudy was best known for being a guitarist with Sunny and the Sunliners in the 60s. He penned quite a few of their famous songs such as "Put Me In Jail," "Smile Now, Cry Later," "The One Who's Hurting Is You," along with many others in his almost 10 year musical career with Sunny and the Sunliners. He was well known for creating those well recognized song intros that to this day are played by many musical groups. He always encouraged and helped those that wanted to become musicians, and taught many young kids to play guitar as well.
Rudy left the music scene in the late 70s and in the early 80s to 2005, he was the music minister at his church, The Life Chapel.
In 2007, Rudy decided to record songs that had been writing all along. He recorded 3 CDS, (Canciones del Corazon, Que Vivian Los Tejanos, and Mi Musica, Mi Orgullo).
On behalf of the Rudy Palacios' family, they wish to thank everyone that has reached out to them in the great lost of their loved one.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, August 02, 2020, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
