Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Ruth C. Alba, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018.

She was a devout Catholic, having been actively involved throughout the years in various activities and organizations at St. Matthew Catholic Church of San Antonio: Alpha Program, ACTS, Cancer Support Group, Defensive Driving Class Assistant, Eucharistic Minister, and a volunteer (later participant) at the St. Matthew Catholic Church Senior Center, where she was an avid Bingo player. She and her cup of dimes never missed a Bingo day!

Her other favorite activities at the Senior Center were Mexican Dominoes and lunch outings with the seniors. Ruth knew no strangers; she could easily strike up a conversation with anyone, and her loving and insightful personality shined through upon meeting her. She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Anthony G. Alba, formerly of Pittston and Pottstown, PA; her daughter, Gina Maria, her brother Chuck Pliskatt; and sister Jean Hummel.

She is survived by her children: Marietta Alba, Charlotte Martinez (Tony); Gregory Alba (Kelly); eight grandchildren: Nathan Lowry (Jessica), Brennan Lowry (Rachel), Michael Alba, Matthew Martinez, Brielle Jacobs (David), Stephanie Alba, David Alba, Noelle Lowry; great-grandchildren: Luca Lowry, Julian Lowry, Brody Lowry, Brayden Lowry and numerous relatives.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Porter Loring McCullough from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:00AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, with Mass to follow at 10:30AM.
