... a model of love and sacrifice ...

Obituary

Ruth Perez Gonzales was born January 24, 1930 in Kingsville, Texas to Abundio and Eligia V. Perez. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Romeo R. Perez. After graduation from Mission High School, she attended Pan American College and completed her studies at Draughon's Business College of San Antonio.

In 1953, Ruth married the love of her life, Noé E. Gonzales, and they began ministry together in the Rio Grande Conference of the United Methodist Church. She served for many years in the areas of Christian education, choir, and women's ministries in several different churches throughout Texas and New Mexico. She also worked in the El Paso Public Schools for eleven years and was a resident of San Antonio for 22 years.

Her loving and caring nature profoundly impacted people all around her. Her marriage of sixty-four and a half years served as a model of love and sacrifice for friends and family alike. Our beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother is survived by her husband, Rev. Dr. Noé E. Gonzales; her daughter Noemi Gonzales Francis and husband, Arlie; grandchildren: Gabriel Francis, Charity Francis, and Celeste Cash; her daughter Norma Gonzales Arrambide and husband, David; grandson Diego Arrambide; her son, Efraim Daniel Gonzales and wife Ellen; her sister Rebecca Martinez; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a beloved friend to many, and we are especially grateful for the loving care and devotion of Lupe Clark of the Senior Companion Program. Ruth loved crafts, cooking and baking, and traveling extensively after retirement.

Her life will be celebrated with visitation at 6:00 PM and prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough on Friday, March 2nd.
