Ruth Rodriguez Balliram, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on June 26, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas to Crecencio Munoz Rodriguez and Manuela Lydia Rodriguez.

Mrs. Balliram holds an Associate Degree in Mid-Management from El Paso Community College and completed a 2-year upward mobility program in Civil Service, culminating as an Equal Opportunity Specialist.

Mrs. Balliram completed 27 years of Civil Service in a variety of administrative positions, following her husband through 13 reassignments in the United States Army in 20 years. These included William Beaumont Army Medical Center (El Paso), Eisenhower Army Medical Center (Georgia), Fort Leonard Wood (Missouri), Fort Leavenworth (Kansas), Fort Knox (Kentucky), Fort Irwin (California), Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Washington D.C.), 121st Army Medical Center (Seoul, South Korea), Carlisle Barracks (Pennsylvania), back to FLW (Missouri),and ending in Fort Polk (Louisiana).

Mrs. Ruth Balliram retired from Civil Service in 1994 having received numerous recognitions throughout her professional tenure, among these the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Commander's Award for Civilian Service. She also received the Commander's Award for Public Service, the fourth highest honor the United States Department of the Army can bestow upon a civilian.

Mrs. Balliram continued her support for the troops and their families upon her retirement from Civil Service, volunteering countless hours. She received the
Dr. Mary E. Walker Regimental Award upon her husband's retirement for her unwavering support of the military soldiers and their families. Colonel Niranjan Balliram culminated his career in 2004 as the Commander of the Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Colonel and Mrs. Balliram were honored with a Texas Flag flown over the Alamo upon his retirement from the Army.

Mrs. Balliram was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel, by the Governor of Kentucky and received a Yellow Rose of Texas by former, Governor Rick Perry for her volunteer services and support of soldiers and their families.

Mrs. Balliram volunteered at the Warrior Family Support Center in San Antonio, Texas prior to moving to Corpus Christi, Texas.

Ruth Balliram was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2015, with metastatic disease in July 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband. She is survived by son, Eric Perez; daughters, Tina Glemba and Janet Perez-Lykos; and stepson Robin Balliram; 6 granddaughters and 2 greatgrandchildren, 3 brothers and their children. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

11:30 A.M.

Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
