Scott Thomas Chank, age 52, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas, after a short battle with brain cancer. Scott was born on December 26, 1967 in Newfane, New York. His family moved to Texas in 1977 where Scott became active in football and baseball; he competed on swim and dive teams, as well. He played clarinet in the high school marching band and graduated from Colbert High School in Colbert, OK in 1987. Scott enlisted in the Army National Guard while still in high school and served from 1986 to 1994. During that time, he relocated to Denton, Texas, where he met and married Michelle Renee Latiolais on July 27, 1990. Soon after, Scott was deployed to the Gulf War, Desert Storm. In 1991, Scott received his Vocational Certification in Automotive Repair at the American Trades Institute in Dallas.

Scott and Michelle moved to San Antonio in 1994 where he focused his career on servicing Nissan automobiles. He started at Gunn Nissan, but found a home at Ancira Nissan where he later became an ASE Master Technician, trainer, and mentor to new technicians. In total, Scott worked with Nissan for 27 years.

When not working, he volunteered as the parking lot coordinator for Community Bible Church for many years. He was also a supportive Girl Scout Dad for both campouts and cookie sales. In his free time, Scott enjoyed spending time with his family, completing DIY projects around his home, spoiling his five cats, and playing computer games.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Austin and Teresa Peters. Scott is survived by his wife, Michelle Chank; children, Chelsea Chank and Aiden Chank; parents, Jack and Sandra Weger; brothers, Lawrence Chank (and his wife Rosemarie Chank) and Gregory Chank (and his wife Darlene Chank); sister, Amber Weger Raines (and her husband Scott Raines); several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He also leaves his five cats, Panther, Zeus, Luna, Fyra, and Mischief. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Pastor Sean Metcalf of Community Bible Church will officiate. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fisher House at
