Obituary

Stephanie Rose Markle, age 19, died peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2018 in Austin, TX where she attended the University of Texas. She was born on May 11th, 1998 in Raleigh, NC to Steve and Lori Markle. She was a 2016 graduate of International School of the Americas in San Antonio, TX.

Stephanie was a woman of many talents. She was a scholar (4.0 student in high school and college), an accomplished pianist, a humanitarian, an enthusiastic volunteer, and an avid reader (it seemed no sooner than she picked a book up she was finished with it). One of her favorite books was "The Name of the Wind". She had a passion for online sweepstakes and would often share the spoils (from earphones and blenders to color changing light bulbs with speakers) with her family. She loved to put a smile on your face.

She had an infectious personality and could listen, empathize, and engage in thought provoking conversation on almost any topic. High on her list were conversations regarding improving the wellbeing of humanity. Volunteering was more than a hobby for her – it was a passion. She continually put others' needs before her own. When asked what she wanted for her birthday she responded she would really like a donation made in her name to a specific cause. She baked cookies at spring break to raise money for her favorite charity. Recently when walking by a volunteer stand on campus with her father she was asked to consider signing up. To their amazement she said she had already volunteered with them!

She loved to travel and explore the world and particularly enjoyed Ireland, Scotland, England, San Francisco, and Seattle. She loved the green of nature and always enjoyed hiking outdoors. She loved panda bears and saw them at the Washington, DC zoo. She had a fondness for Japanese culture and longed to visit Japan as well as Iceland, Egypt, and France.

Stephanie shared a strong love for her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. She had an unbreakable bond with her brother Nathan that she guarded close to her heart. She communicated daily with her mother and shared a relationship with her father that was a love beyond words.

Stephanie truly left the world better than when she entered it. She is survived by her brother Nathan, her mother Lori, and her father Steve who will all miss her dearly.

The service will be private.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider a donation to one of the charities she liked: http//www.projecthope.org
