Obituary for Mr. Stephen Anthony Aerts

February 27, 1991 - August 24, 2018
San Antonio, Texas | Age 27

Stephen Anthony Aerts went to be with Jesus on Friday, August 24th, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 27. Stephen was born on February 27, 1991 to Mark and Melissa Aerts in San Antonio, TX. He started Scouting as a Tiger Cub in Kindergarten and enjoyed 12 full years of scouting adventure with his father and brother where he participated in over a hundred campouts. The highlight of his camping career was attending Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico with his father in 2006. One of his proudest moments was in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 2008. He was so proud he actually wore his Eagle Scout uniform to several job interviews. He graduated from Ronald Reagan High School in 2009.

He loved music, art, poetry, and the beauty of nature. If he took one picture of the sunset he took a thousand. He enjoyed working with his hands. He hand crafted an electric guitar while in High School and taught himself to play. He appreciated the small details in everything. He was a kind and gentle soul who sought to encourage and uplift others with inspirational quotes, hand drawings, gifts, and flowers even if they weren't interested in receiving it. His smile could light up the room and his laugh was contagious. He approached life with a childlike enthusiasm.

His first job was with Whataburger on Blanco Road where he was known and loved by many. He was often seen giving life advice to the many High Schoolers who came in while working the night shift. From Whataburger he moved to HEB where he worked as a cashier. Stephen believed in excellent customer service and worked on several projects to help other cashiers improve their skills. He even came up with a better way to retrieve the carts from the parking lot – definitely outside of the scope of his responsibility. He also tried his hand at numerous careers including welding, pest control, automotive, and construction. Woven in and amongst these jobs he also worked with his Dad at the retail store and in property management. Ultimately he found the fulfilling career that he sought when he became a Transportation Safety Officer working at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport. He considered his co-workers to be his family and he went out of his way to be the best TSO he could be.

Above all else, Stephen loved Jesus. His relationship and love for Jesus made him who he was and still is. He spent time with Jesus reading and contemplating scripture and actively shared his love for Jesus in action, word, and deed. The last text he sent said "Seeing Jesus is my priority". We are comforted by the knowledge that Stephen is seeing Jesus right now and that we will all be together again one day.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Jan Aerts, grandfather, Robert Beauchamp, and cousins, Life Erickson and Jamie Beauchamp. Stephen is survived by his parents, Mark and Melissa Aerts; sister, Sarah Aerts and her husband, Troy Quevido; niece, Melody Quevido; brother, Michael Aerts and his wife, Brandi Dalrymple; sister, Emily Aerts; grandmothers, Maria Aerts and Norma Beauchamp; aunts and uncles, Geert Aerts, Anita Aerts McAloon and her husband Sean; Mary Erickson and her husband, Rick; James Beauchamp; Daniel Beauchamp and his wife, Kay; Leah Beauchamp Mahoney; and Robert Beauchamp and his wife, Michelle; cousins, Joel, Matthew, Chad, Robert, Ashley, Savannah, and Caleb.
