Obituary

Beloved mother, wife and grandmother, Susan Maheu Guerra, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Born in New Orleans, LA, she was accepted by the Order of the Daughters of Charity at age 18. She attended St. Louis University, receiving a Bachelor degree in Social Work. As a Daughter, she performed many duties at the Guardian Angel settlement house in St. Louis. Her next two assignments were at St. Ann's home for new mothers in Austin and St. Leo's parish in San Antonio working with the youth program. She was also a probation officer for the Bexar County Probation Office.

She was a very independent and humble individual, always ready to help those in need. She met her beloved husband of 39 years, Eliberto at St. Leo's. They were married at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Her work with children continued when they opened Guardian Angel Child Development Center. She was a talented musician playing the guitar and singing. She loved the Spurs and Dancing with the Stars. She always said that when she got to heaven she would be dancing with the angels. She was also an amazing cook ~ best Gumbo in town!

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Marilyn Maheu. She is survived by her husband, Eliberto Guerra; daughter, Jessica Guerra; and son, Christopher Guerra and wife, Melissa Guerra; step-daughter, Trina Bacon; grandchildren Oliver, Charlotte, Vinton, Christian, Elizabeth, and Bobby; and three brothers, Donnie, Steve, Michael and families and friends in Louisiana and Texas and wherever the Daughters of Charity have a home mission.
