Terri Lynn Johnson, beloved instructor to hundreds of young dance students on San Antonio's northwest side over the past four decades, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2020, in San Antonio, after a short illness. She was 69.

Her dancers frequently earned awards at national competitions. Two of her former students went on to open their own dance studios in San Antonio.

Terri Lynn Carter was born on April 18, 1951, at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Lake County, Ill., to John E. Carter and Rose Carter. She attended Highlands High School and recently attended the 50th reunion of her graduating class.

Terri taught dance for 44 years, the first nine years at Thunderbird Dance Academy in San Antonio. Her expertise made her a much sought-after judge at tryouts and competitions.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister, Jamie Maybin; and a nephew, Stephen Carr. She is survived by her sister, Laura Latham, and her brother, Michael Burt.
