Obituary

Dolly Sullivan completed her 89 year journey on earth this Friday May 5, 2017. She was born January 28, 1928 in Tulsa OK. Her family quickly returned to Castroville after her birth and introduced her to the family. Upon seeing her, her grandmother Kilhorn exclaimed she was a doll, and the name "Dolly" stayed with her forevermore.

Dolly's life was shaped by the great depression that followed after her birth. It spurred entrepreneurial creativity, a strong work ethic, and desire to build community. She recycled, and repurposed before it was "green". She grew a garden to supply her restaurant long before any "farm to table" movement.

Her first job was at Schotz Soda Fountain in Castroville; and later she worked in San Antonio for department stores Woolworth and Winns. During the War, she distributed rations. Dolly later owned and operated vending machines, juke boxes, laundromats, bars, restaurants, apartment rentals, and a beauty salon.

Dolly lived in the Greater San Antonio Area throughout her life; having homes in San Antonio, Castroville, Helotes, and Bulverde.

In retirement Dolly became a member of the Catholic Daughters and a Volunteer at the North Central Baptist Hospital. Her hobbies included sewing, crochet, and ceramics. She loved to play Dominos and Card games.

She was preceded in death by husband Joseph E. Sullivan; parents Phillip Tschirhart and Elizabeth (Kilhorn) Katz; siblings Buddy Tschirhart, Margaret Tschirhart Storbeck, and Harry Katz; grandchildren Jesse M Webb III, and Jessica Webb.

She is survived by siblings Phyllis Tschirhart Register, Gerald Katz, and Robert Katz; children Jess M Webb II, Margaret Sullivan Baros (Bennie), Denise Sullivan Williams (Alan), Jay B Sullivan (Cindy Faulkner) , and Sean E Sullivan (Maribel), 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
