Obituary for Vernal Bee Richardson

January 3, 2020
San Antonio, Texas

Vernal Bee Richardson, age 82, was called home on Friday, January 3, 2020. Vernal was born in Seguin, Texas, where he found Christ at Sweet Home Baptist Church and attended Sweet Home Community School. He joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and he continued his education through college. Vernal had a passion for farming and enjoyed raising his cattle and horses in Seguin, Texas. At that time, he continued his faith at Savanna Baptist Church. Years later he moved to California where he met his wife Beverly and worked as a Hardwood Inspector in California. After getting married he and his wife moved to Cibolo Texas. Soon after they joined Rock of Faith Baptist Church, followed by becoming devoted members of the St. Stephens Baptist Church.

Through all seasons of Vernal's life he always maintained his relationship with our Lord and Savior as his highest priority serving as a deacon over a decade. His knowledge and wisdom blessed everyone that crossed his path and he touched many lives with his generosity and contagious smile. Vernal was a loving husband, father, grandfather & uncle who proudly extended his heart & home to many and raised them as his own.

Vernal was a man who believed in power of prayer and prayed religiously. In life and now in death, he wouldn't want us to focus on him. He wouldn't want us to focus on the sadness of passing but instead focus on how much of a blessing he was to have in our lives.

Vernal is preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Richardson and Ollie Sheppard; sister, Oralee Richardson; and son, Earl Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Beverly Richardson; sons, Gary Richardson, Keith Richardson, Lavelle Philips; daughters, Vernelle Richardson and Tina Philips; brothers, Donald Richardson and Alvis "Billy" Richardson; sister, Ethel Richardson; grandchildren, Kamelah Richadson-Wilson, Izenia Richardson, Kiera Richardson, Christopher Winters and Kelsey Philips; great-granddaughters, Enija Wilson and Zaraya Wilson; special daughters, Vickie White, Renee Pate and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vernal will always be remembered by those of us who knew him and loved him. Although we will miss him, his smile, his wisdom, and the love he shared. His guidance and memories will carry us through to the end of our days. We love you Grandpa Bee, until we meet again.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2020 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
