Obituary

Vickie Lynn Baker has left this earth to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2020. She was 75 years old.

Vickie was born on October 28, 1944 to Johnnie & Marjorie Mize. She graduated from Highlands High school in 1962. Preceding her in death was her Mother, Marjorie Binz & step father Leroy Binz. She is survived by her sister Christine King. Also surviving Vickie are daughter, Marnie, and sons, John & Royce. She has five grandchildren Megan, Cooper, Joshua, Joseph & Julianna. She leaves behind her husband of 42-years, Ronnie "RD" Baker.

Vickie's career led her to a multitude of exciting jobs, all of which she was totally dedicated. Among those was an Administrative Technician at Texas Instruments, where she was involved deeply in the development of the world's first pocket calculator. She then went into Nursing School and became an LVN and did what she loves the most, taking care of people. In 1978, she married Ronnie Baker and continued nursing while committing herself to his military career. For the next 26 years she followed the call of military duty. While stationed at Luke AFB, AZ., she was employed by Goodyear Aerospace and worked on a multitude of high-level Military Projects. Upon their reassignment to Ramstein Air Base, Germany she was hired by the Defense Investigative Service, where she was a key player in detecting and eliminating enemy spy's threatening U.S. Intelligence. Upon their return to Randolph AFB, TX., she served as the secretary for the Commander of Air Force Recruiting. It was not long before one of her former Air Force Supervisors recruited her to join his team at Northwest Vista College, in the Information Technology Division. She would soon become the College Facilitator responsible for bidding, purchasing and placement of all associated computer equipment for the entire campus.

She retired in 2010. Vickie and Ronnie made their home in Martinez, TX on a parcel of land passed down by her grandfather, Walter Binz. She was actively involved in all aspects of cattle ranching. In her spare time, she loved gardening, watching movies and shopping online. She loved doing great things for her children and grandchildren. She went out of her way to make Ronnie happy too! Vickie and Ronnie are major supporters of St. Jerome Catholic Church, as well as four other Christian Ministries across the U.S. Her Love for family was only surpassed by her love for Christ. Her impact on the moral and financial well-being of her family, friends and community will be dearly missed and truly remembered. She was a pioneer, a successful business woman, a loving mother and wife and most of all, a person who found good in everyone.
