Obituary for Vincenzia Nancy Squeo

October 19, 1928 - February 28, 2019
San Antonio, Texas | Age 90

Vincenzia Nancy Squeo went to be with our Lord on February 28, 2019, at the age of 90. Vincenzia was born in Molfetta, Italy on October 19, 1928. She came to America at the age of three and grew up in Long Beach, New York. She met and married Domenico Squeo on December 4, 1948, and they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Known by close friends and family as Nancy, her main role in life was raising an Italian family. She was the head cook and bottle washer. Dinner was on the table at five o'clock every night and it was very Italian. In the early days she not only changed diapers, she washed the cloth diapers to be reused. The invention of the washing machine was a blessing. Later she learned to drive and with it came her freedom to move about. She picked up various jobs in between her role as housewife to help pay the bills. Before the children came along, she worked in New York City for a company that made movie posters for Paramount. In her free time, she would read, watch soap operas on TV or watch the NY Mets, she was a super fan! Her favorite singer was Frank Sinatra and would take the train to NYC to see him perform. She was very involved with the Catholic Church and the annual St. Gennaro's feast at Sacred Heart Church in Island Park.

Vincenzia lived on Long Island in NY before moving to San Antonio in 2011. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of her husband, four children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Vincenzia is survived by her sons, Anthony and Louis, and daughter Victoria Sailer. She is preceded in death by her husband Domenico and her daughter Maria Beckman. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 6:00- 9:00pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
