Obituary

Bill McClusky was born in Manhattan, New York City on April 11, 1930 and passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen McClusky and daughter, Margaret Carol. He is survived by his wife, Carol and son, Will of San Antonio.

After graduation from Fordham Preparatory School, he enlisted in the US Air Force to allow himself time to decide what he wanted to do with his life. After a tour in Korea where he flew as Crew Chief on more than 120 combat missions, he qualified and completed Air Force Officer and Pilot Training School. His next assignment was to return to Korea as a C47 pilot flying missions to many strange places from landing on sides of mountains, in fields and on beaches. After his second tour in Korea, he was assigned to Reese AFB where he met his wife, Carol. From Reese, he was assigned to Strategic Air Command, refueling planes and later Medical Air Evac in the U.S. and Europe. His next assignment was in Andrews AFB and the Special Air Missions Squadron responsible for maintaining Air Force One and flying government dignitaries in a Jet Star.

After retirement from the US Air Force, he joined Lockheed in Saudi Arabia as an instructor for Saudi staff officers in their Jet Star and flew the Royal Family, Ministers of Government, and official guests. Bill joined Mobil Oil Saudi Arabia to fly their Gulfstream.

Bill started flying a T-6 and ended his career flying a Gulfstream. After 40 years of professional flying, he settled in San Antonio where he and his wife, Carol, volunteered many years at the SAMM Shelter. He served as an usher at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Churches.
